Liposculpture Frequently Asked Questions - F.A.Q.
- Q: What is Tumescent Liposculpture?
- A: This is an advanced technique of permanent removal of excess fat in areas resistant to diet and exercise. The procedure is called Liposculpture because the surgeon is able to artistically sculpt the body into a new shape while the patient is awake using Tumescent local anesthesia and smaller more delicate instruments.
- Q: What is the difference between traditional liposuction and Tumescent Liposculpture?
- A: Traditional liposuction is a procedure performed under general anesthesia. Tumescent Liposculpture is under a local anesthetic while the patient is awake. The patient can go back to work within a couple of days. With traditional liposuction, a patient has all the risks associated with general anesthesia and is out of work for 5-6 weeks.
- Q: Am I a good candidate for Tumescent Liposculpture?
- A: The ideal candidate is a person in good health, exercises, and is within 25 pounds of his or her optimal weight.
- Q: How much fat can be removed with Tumescent Liposculpture?
- A: Up to 3-4 Liters (6-8 pounds) of fat can be removed per procedure.
- Q: Will my skin be loose after Liposculpture?
- A: After the procedure, your skin will be loose for several hours but will begin to tighten naturally within the 1st 24 hours and continue for the next 3-6 months.
- Q: Will I gain the fat back in the area treated by Liposculpture?
- A: Fat cells are actually removed in the treated area, therefore, without good eating habits and an active lifestyle, weight could still be gained in other areas. There may be a few cells left behind in the treated area that also could expand if the patient does not change their eating habits and does not follow an exercise plan.
